In that moment I thought to myself that this must be the smallest, tiniest, glimpse of what it might be like to be a mother one day. When my little sister asked me to sit with her and randomly told me she loved me, I knew that everything would be okay. I'm not sure how the two have any link, but it made me realised if there is anything worth living for its probably moments like this.

So when I came across this video on Twitter this morning, it was the first thing I remembered.

If you can watch this video and you don't feel anything, then you don't have a heart, that I'm sure of. Also, if you can watch this video and you don't feel anything despite having children in your life, you should feel nothing but shame about who you are.

If the first thought that comes to your mind, like one of the top comments, is that this video is scripted you must have forgotten what its like to have ever cried this hard and felt so hopeless.

I cant help but watch this and wonder what humanity is coming to? 

This video finalised something to me which I've known for a very long time. The American government, Trump, do not care about the lives of children, especially if those children happen to be children of colour.

You only have to think about the thousands of children who have lost their lives to mass shootings. Still there is no progress on gun control. All Trump has to offer are his prayers, which are not good enough. Forbid your daughters show their shoulders at school or have a drink before 21, but children being shot at school seems to be not real enough of a concern to do anything about. Despite the way it keeps happening.

When you look at this girl I hope it finally gives a face to the 1500 innocent children who ICE 'lost' not too long ago.

How do you lose 1500 children? I don't even want to think about where they might be now.

I hope this lost little girl's plea for change effects the hearts of society and at least some of those in a position to create real change and isn't just a 24 hour viral video forgotten by tomorrow.
